Product Description

The Apollo Series 65 Optical Smoke Detector (Part No. 55000-317APO) is a conventional photo-electric smoke detector designed for use in fire alarm systems. It detects smoke using light-scattering technology, offering reliable early warning of slow-burning or smouldering fires — the type of fire that produces a lot of smoke before large flames develop.

How It Works

Uses a light-scattering optical chamber with an infrared LED and photodiode.
The LED emits pulses of light; in clear air, little light reaches the photodiode. Smoke entering the chamber scatters light onto the photodiode, triggering an alarm once a threshold is exceeded.
Every few seconds the detector samples air to monitor for smoke continually.
